There comes a time in every person’s life when they must choose a career path. When that time came for Jalisa, she chose speech pathology. Jalisa received her Bachelors of Arts from Hampton University in Communicative Science and Disorders. She has provided speech therapy for adults and children with articulation, language/pragmatics, phonology, voice, fluency, apraxia, dysarthria, and aphasic disorders. Jalisa has also worked with children ranging from 3-15 diagnosed with Autism, Down syndrome, and fetal alcohol syndrome.

While collaborating with other professionals in various school settings it was clear to Jalisa that more professionals needed guidance on how to work with those affected by Autism. Jalisa went on to obtain a Masters of Arts in Autism at Grand Canyon University. She has provided behavior (ABA) therapy for children diagnosed on the autistic spectrum in home, clinic, and school settings.

She notes that it’s an amazing feeling to know she’s making a difference in the life of someone else. Many people choose careers simply because it will bring them fortune and fame, but she wanted a career that would allow others to be blessed because of her work.
