Leilani Pineda graduated with her high school diploma from Educational Partnership High school in June of 2021. She graduated a year early from her original graduation year. Leilani has always had a passion for helping children and families in need. She has volunteered with the Local Hearts Foundation since 2019. Local Hearts Foundation is a non-profit organization that helps families in need, ex. (School materials, clothes, shoes, and food) she has donated 25 backpacks filled with school supplies, books and toys. She has volunteered at backpack giveaways and has participated in toy drives. Every year around the holiday season Leilani cooks homemade tamales, rice, beans, and takes it to skid row.
Leilani has a 2-year-old son who has been diagnosed with a delay in speech. Once she was aware of his diagnosis, she began to switch work fields from working with adults who struggle with substance abuse to being a receptionist for Lynne Alba Speech Therapy. Being a part of a speech therapy clinical team has given her a greater understanding of communication. Since working at the clinic her son now says phrases and communicates his needs/wants.
In her spare time, Leilani is found at the park, on hiking trails or at the beach. She also has a passion for cooking meals from scratch. Leilani loves interacting with the children at Lynne Alba Speech Therapy and she couldn’t be more thankful for this new experience.
